Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a torrid season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface from March of the previous year.

Victory also indicates he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular outbursts on court had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an better serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five games to go ahead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour title, took control to push for a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early break points in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
